Disco Scallops: sustainable & scalable

One of our clients, Fishtek Marine, have been making waves in the field of sustainable fishing solutions for years.

Although traditional scallop fishing techniques involve diving to depths of over 10 meters, most scallops these days are harvested using scallop dredges or bottom trawls, which are highly damaging to the marine environment. Fishtek Marine's recent discovery that scallops can be attracted to static fishing gear using flashing LED lights resulted in the development of their bespoke scallop potting system, including their new ScallopLight and ScallopEye (UK & International patents pending) which can be retro-fitted to existing potting frames, and culminates in the sale of these "Disco Scallops" to restaurants across the country.
